New BMW X5 and X6 revealed: Everything you need to know

German luxury carmaker BMW revealed the updated BMW X5 and X6 globally. Both SUVs get tweaked exterior and interior changes. The car has been revealed online and will head to production in April 2023.
Talking about the design, both X5 and X6 get sculpted bonnets, large kidney grilles, and sleeker LED headlamps with wide air vents. BMW claims that the headlights have become 35 mm narrower than before and the X5 also gets an optional illuminated front grille.X6 gets a standard M Sport package with octagonal lower fascia.

At back, the SUVs get wrap-around tail lamps and quad exhaust tips. Colour options for the X5 include Brooklyn Gray, Isle of Man Green and Marina Bay Blue. X6 is available in Blue Ridge Mountain metallic, Brooklyn Grey metallic, Skyscraper Grey metallic, and Frozen Pure Grey metallic.

Moving on to the interior, both SUVs feature a 14.9-inch digital cluster with a 12.3-inch infotainment system. SUVs also get 15-colour ambient lighting, automatic climate control and multifunction steering wheel. X5 and X6 also get Highway Assistant as an option. BMW says that this system allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel on limited access highways at speeds up to 137 kmph. It also gets Assisted View mode on the instrument cluster that shows the vehicles being detected by the cameras and sensors in the current and adjacent lanes.

Talking about the powertrain, the X5 and X6 get a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine paired with a 48 mild hybrid system which puts out 523 bhp of power and 750 Nm of torque. SUVs also get a 3.0-litre straight-six engine paired with an electric motor which puts out 483 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque. There’s also another 3.0-litre with mild hybrid tech which puts out 375 bhp and 519 Nm of torque.

All engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW claims the new X5 and X6 xDrive40i can accelerate to 0-96 kmph in 5.2 seconds. As mentioned previously, these models have been revealed for international markets. We expect BMW to introduce the new X5 and X6 in India sometime in 2023.

In terms of pricing, in the US the price for the new X5 starts from $66,195 (about Rs 54,64,000 at current exchange rates) and the price for the X6 starts from $74,895 (about Rs 61,82,132 at current exchange rates).
